2017 Rain Garden Plant Sale


Help manage water where it falls with discounted plants for your rain garden.  MMSD and Agrecol's rain garden plant sale starts now for 2017, open to customers within MMSD's service area. Plants are provided at about a 50% discount (compared with retail prices).  In addition to the plant sale, MMSD is offering a FREE Rain Garden Design Workshop where you can learn about rain gardens, plant selection, and plant care.


Dates to remember:

  • February 28, 2017: MMSD begins taking orders
  • March 11, 2017: FREE Rain Garden Design Workshop (Class is full)
  • March 31, 2017: All orders must be submitted by close of business
  • June 10, 2017: Plant order pickup,  9am - 12pm

Who can order:

Any private property owner, local non-profit group, or municipality can purchase plants. Plants cannot be purchased for resale. If you are unsure of your status, please contact matt.weber@agrecol.com.

How do I order:

New this year!  Online ordering is available through our partner Agrecol.  Visit the plant sale page  to select plants and complete your order.

Rain Garden Day Workshop 


Fresh Coast Rain Garden Day at MMSD’s Headquarters Building with Optional Tour of Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility

260 W. Seeboth Street, Milwaukee, WI

On March 11, 2017, come to the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District’s Headquarters building to learn about rain garden basics. The morning workshop portion that will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM will focus on how to design and build a rain garden, how to select plants, and how your rain garden can protect Lake Michigan. After the morning workshop, an optional tour of the Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.  At the workshop, UW-Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will be on hand to discuss design tips and assist you with creating your rain garden. You can also submit an order through MMSD’s Annual Rain Garden Plant Sale that offers rain garden plants for up to 50% off retail prices. This is a FREE event, but you must RSVP to attend.
